As he is a man of little more than thirty years of age, and as his vested interests are preserved, more than a quarter of a century may well elapse before disestablishment shall become an accomplished fact in this island. Still it is generally felt that it is desirable to make timely preparation for the contingencies which may occur at any time, especially in a climate so unfavourable to the health of Europeans. I have had several conversations on this subject with leading members of the Anglican communion, and especially with the excellent Bishop Burdon, the resident Missionary Bishop, who is ecclesiastically, if not politically, the successor of the "Bishops of Victoria", so styled in the Queen's Letters Patent of former years, which are now no longer issued. At my suggestion, Bishop Burdon has requested the Primate of New Zealand to send him detailed information and advice respecting the organization of the Anglican
